Dr Cannell studied medicine at The Royal London Hospital. In 1979, he gained his MBBS and then worked in many departments of various hospitals, gaining his MRCGP in 1984. He worked as a NHS GP from 1984-2016. He trained and used homeopathy (1998-present ), western- style acupuncture, (2004-2012) alongside his family medicine. In his St Albans practice , he specialised and held clinics in Diabetes and Rheumatological conditions. He later trained in ‘Functional and Environmental Medicine’ and gained his PGDipNutrMed (University of Surrey) in 2016. He has taken further training in allergy and environmental medicine.
