Dr Jean Monro
Dr Jean Monro is our full-time Medical Director and is internationally known for her work in allergy and environmental medicine. She studied medicine at London Hospital Medical College and worked at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and The Wellington Hospital before, in the early 1980s, opening her own private practice which grew into Breakspear Medical Group. Dr Monro is a Fellow of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Principal Medical Advisor of the Environmental Medicine Foundation.

Professor Basant Puri
Professor Basant Puri is a part-time consultant and medical researcher at Breakspear Medical, Hammersmith Hospital and Imperial College London. He has researched a variety of conditions, including depression, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Huntington’s chorea, using state-of-the-art electrophysiological, brain scanning and biochemical techniques. Along with carrying out medical studies and consulting on a part-time basis, he is supervising research into Lyme disease.
Dr Eberhard Schwarz
Dr Eberhard Schwarz, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Neurologist, has a keen interest in allergy and environmental medicine and works part-time at Breakspear Medical. Dr Schwarz retired from his position as Medical Director of Fachkliniken Nordfriesland, a large psychiatric hospital in Northern Germany. Over 20 years ago, Dr Schwarz introduced allergy and environmental medical treatments for his psychiatric patients, utilising low-dose immunotherapy vaccines manufactured by Breakspear Medical. He is fluent in English and German.
Dr Daud Mohamed
Dr Daud Mohamed works full-time at Breakspear Medical. He studied medicine at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Italy. After completing his Doctor in Medicine and Surgery qualification, Dr Mohamed completed his residency in infectious diseases, which gives him GMC registration as a specialist in this field. After moving to the UK, Dr Mohamed became a Resident Medical Officer in Orthopaedics at the Orthopaedic and Spine Specialist Hospital in Peterborough. He is fluent in English, Italian and Somali.
Dr Cyprel Ijeh
Dr Cyprel Ijeh works full-time and has been working in Occupational and Environmental Medicine for many years. He is a licensed medical practitioner in the UK, Sweden and Malta. Dr Ijeh completed his Certificate of Medical Doctor at the Military University of Lodz, Poland, after completing his Masters in Public Health at the Nordic School of Public Health in Sweden. He has completed a variety of diplomas and certificates, including a diploma in Occupational Medicine from Manchester University earlier in 2015. He is fluent in English and Swedish, understands some Danish and Polish and speaks many indigenous languages spoken in Nigeria.
Dr Peter Julu
Dr Peter Julu, Specialist Autonomic Neurophysiologist, is a leading expert in brainstem abnormalities in Rett Syndrome, and has a special interest in diabetic neuropathy and works at Breakspear Medical part-time in the Neuroscience Department. This department is the only facility in the whole of the European Union currently offering target organ orientated examination of the autonomic nervous system. Dr Julu is also the Neurophysiologist in charge at the Swedish National Rett Centre in Frösön, Sweden.
Dr Mussadiq Shah
Dr Shah is our part-time Clinical Neurophysiologist. He also works part-time at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), Barts and The Royal London as a Senior Lecturer in Olfaction (smell) and Gustation (taste) and autonomic neurophysiologist at William Harvey Heart Institute QMUL. He is one of the very few world experts who can accurately measure and record all smell, taste, autonomic and neurophysiological modalities.
Ron Leon, MSc Nutrition, qualified from the world-renowned Bastyr University in Seattle, USA. While attending Bastyr University, he taught in the Exercise Science Department and as a volunteer offered nutritional advice at a women’s shelter. He received his BSc (Hons) Health Sciences from the University of Westminster, London, and has taken additional science courses at Oxford Brookes University. He is currently pursuing a further qualification in Sports Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, London. Ron’s ensures that each consultation is specifically tailored to the requirements of the individual. In this way, he avoids the “one size fits all” approach that is so prevalent amongst healthcare practitioners.
Michele Kingston BA (Hons), BSc Nutri.Med, mBANT works part-time At Breakspear Medical. She started studying nutritional medicine after personally witnessing the healing power of nutritional therapy. She completed her BSc in Nutritional Medicine from Thames Valley University and, after completing an internship at Breakspear Medical, joined the clinical team. Michele gives talks on nutrition to employees at corporate firms and to clients at weight-loss retreats and has had educational articles published online and in newspapers nationally and internationally. She works with adults and children of all ages with a broad variety of needs.
Roshnee Dattani has achieved an MSc in Personalised Nutrition and has a scientific background with a BSc in Chemistry from The University of Birmingham. This has provided her with an understanding of the biochemical and physiological interactions that occur within the body, and has allowed her to appreciate how these interactions differ from one person to another. She is associated with the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Daniel Segal completed his BA in Psychology and a MSc in Mental Health Counseling in New York, USA. Both these degrees have given him an understanding and an in-depth knowledge of the layout, processes and functions of the brain, as well as of its chemical make-up. His degrees also gave him insight into other areas that might affect a person’s wellbeing. These include an individual’s family, socio-economic status, social stressors and environmental factors. He works with patients of all sorts, including those who suffer from OCD, autism, depression, severe anxiety, panic attacks, feelings of helplessness, family issues, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. He is a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Anne Derham, RN, is the Clinical Care Manager and is in charge of the entire nursing team. The Nursing Team consists of specially trained full and part-time nurses. They are trained to listen, observe and treat their patients as whole, individual people. The nurses’ primary role is to perform allergy testing and administer supplemental drips. We also have trained medical support staff. All members of Breakspear Medical’s clinical team are trained as first responders in the unlikely event of a medical emergency. The clinic has all required emergency equipment and all clinical team members receive annual refresher training for essential emergency procedures including re-certification in CPR and use of the in-house Automatic External Defibrillator.
