Breakspear Medical is pleased to offer at-home test kits to UK RESIDENTS ONLY for:
Vitamin D Test
Take a simple and reliable UKAS accredited at-home test to find out if you are deficient in vitamin D, which are prevalent in severe COVID-19 cases.
It is estimated that in the UK, 20% of adults and 16% of children between the ages of 11 and 18 years are estimated to be deficient in vitamin D.
While vitamin D deficiencies are common, older adults and darker skinned people are more susceptible.
If you have been found to be deficient, a telephone consultation can be arranged to discuss options such as ergocalciferol injection or higher concentration supplements.
Vitamin D Test Kit is available for £53 and includes:
- a sterile finger prick blood collection device
- a pathology form
- a freepost envelope to send your sample to the laboratory
Your results will be sent to you by us 2-4 days after you have posted your sample to the laboratory.
**UK residents only**
COVID-19 IgG Antibody Test
(CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE)
Earlier in May 2020, we were able to offer a simple, reliable UKAS accredited laboratory test from the safety of your own home to find out if you have COVID-19 (Abbotts: SARS-CoV-2) antibodies, a sign that your body has previously been infected with the coronavirus.
At this time, all laboratories, including TDL (the one Breakspear Medical uses), who are running COVID-19 Antibody testing have been asked to pause from providing a self-collection COVID-19 Antibody service. This is because a national review is being carried out by the MHRA around the positioning of self-collected blood samples for COVID-19 Antibody testing.
During this pause, we will not send out any more packs for self-collected COVID antibody tests but any self-collected samples for COVID Antibody tests that have been received, or have been collected by the patient and sent to the laboratory, will be reported in the normal way – and the result that is issued will include an additional comment confirming that the result is laboratory verified.
We have been assured that the accuracy of the tests already conducted is within TDL’s claimed specificity of 100% and sensitivity of 97.5%.
We will update you as soon as TDL can to confirm the outcome of the MHRA review of self-collected samples for COVID-19 Antibody testing. If you would like to be emailed an update when it is available, please complete the form below and note in the comment box, “Antibody test”.
